TYPE O NEGATIVE CO-HEADLINE SPRING JAGERMEISTER TOUR
Goth rock icons TYPE O NEGATIVE will co-headline this spring's edition of the Jägermeister Tour with hardcore metal heavyweights Hatebreed. TYPE O NEGATIVE will play a handful of dates with SOiL and Kingdom of Sorrow before joining Hatebreed and 3 Inches Of Blood for the Friday, May 16 Jägermeister Tour launch in Providence, RI. The six–week trek will make its way across North America before wrapping June 29 in Johnson City, NY at Magic City Music Hall.
TYPE O NEGATIVE--PETER STEELE (vocals, bass), JOSH SILVER (keyboards), KENNY HICKEY (guitar), JOHNNY KELLY (drums)--are touring in support of the special edition re-release of their 2007 album DEAD AGAIN (SPV Records), a powerful, dark sonic work filled with resounding epics. Although all of the sonics that have defined them for the past 17 years are still there, the quartet has significantly ratcheted up everything from atmospheres to musicianship. When DEAD AGAIN was originally released in 2007, the album debuted at #27 on Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, selling over 22,000 copies in its first week and earning high praise from Outburn magazine: "Few bands would have the foresight to combine punk rock, Sabbath, and goth, but Type O Negative has been doing it successfully for years. Dead Again is another gem in Type O's cracked, rotted crown" (April/May 2007).
The deluxe CD version of DEAD AGAIN--released February 12--has been re-packaged with a special red cover and contains a bonus DVD with exclusive live performances, interviews and studio videos. A limited-edition triple-vinyl box set was also released and features DEAD AGAIN on high-quality 180-gram vinyl and contains the bonus DVD, along with an exclusive t-shirt and mp3 files of the album.
Look for TYPE O NEGATIVE on the road in the following cities (see below), where they'll perform songs from their catalog that includes the platinum-certified Bloody Kisses.
Here's a sample of the band's recent critical acclaim for their live performances. The band live offered a "…foray into their Beatles-meets-Black Sabbath world of the sick-and-twisted musically malcontent. Sick and twisted, yes (anything featuring the aforementioned characters would need to be), yet so deceptively brilliant in its delivery, it was scary…they use morose overtures and a wry, dare-me-to-care attitude to color metal mechanics that are rivaled by few on the live circuit (Paul Gargano, LiveDaily.com, 4/27/07)."
