Suprise line-up produce unique album
The Good, The Bad and The Queen - 2007
What happens when you mix in a band creative genius Damon Albarn of the Blur and Gorillaz, bassist Paul Simonon of the legendary Clash, Fela Guti's drummer and afrobeat pioneer Tony Allen and even Simon Tong of the Verve ? Well you've got one hell of a supergroup with a unique lineup and one of the most suprising studio releases of this year. DangerMouse, in top shape, steps in as producer.
The album sets a ethereal, melancholic mood, with no particular track that stands out, even though Herculean has been one of the album's first releases. The rhythm section creeps into your bloodstream and the music simply flows naturaly.
Laid back and inventive, the album is one of those rare beauties and one of the notable releases in 2007. With The Good, The Bad & The Queen, Damon Albarn reasures his critics with yet another of his "Midas touches" and hopefully his next project will involve his old band Blur.
