Take 6 Brings Harmony To Jazz On 'The Standard'

Take 6

Grammy Award-winning acapella group Take 6 is set to return this fall with a brand new album entitled "The Standard." Known for combining the essential elements of Jazz, Gospel and R&B, Take 6 has remained one of the most recognized and most revered groups over the last 20 years. With "The Standard," Take 6 chose to team with some of the worlds best jazz and R&B artists including George Benson, Al Jarreau, Roy Hargrove, Aaron Neville and Brian McKnight who is also the younger brother of Take 6's Claude McKnight III to create their first jazz standard album. Set for release September 30th, "The Standard" becomes the group's first release under Heads up International which is also home to jazz artists Gerald Veasley, Maceo Parker and George Duke. With songs like "Straighten Up and Fly Right," "A-Tisket, A-Tasket" and "What's Going On" Dave Thomas of Take 6 says "While we sing lyrics that always exemplify our spiritual and moral convictions, what we really are at the core is a jazz vocal group. So we've decided to do an album of jazz standards, and make it the vocal jazz album for all time." Take 6 released their last album "Feels Good" independently in 2006 after spending over fourteen years with Warner Bros. Music.
