System of a Down

System of a Down - Chop Suey (2) guitar tab

Band: System of a Down

Song: Chop Suey!

After seeing all these incorrect Chop Suey tabs, I decided to just go ahead and post my version of it,

which should be fairly accurate.

This version isn't that much different from SeRg's, however there are significant changes in the verse and outro,

not to mention that he somehow forgot to tab the chorus.

Note: Daron of SOAD uses the drop-d tuning on ALL of his guitars, which means most of the tabs here not in the

CGCFAD tuning is probably incorrect.

The asterisks (*) mean that the measures are repeated.

The stuff like (1:34) is when that particular part is played in the song. (On the CD)

The tuning for this song is as follows:

D

A

F

C

G

C

The intro is pretty straightforward. First, Riff 1 is played by itself once (the acoustic guitar part),

and then Riff 2 comes in once. After Riff 2, all three riffs are apparently played at the same time twice,

leading into the heavy part.

Also, please note that Riff 3 is played by a mandolin, and not an acoustic guitar.

Riff 3 strum each chord 16 times every measure (played by a mandolin).

And then the heavy part goes…

And then the chorus… (Trust, in, my, self-righteous suicide…)

Riff 6 (1:01, 1:41)

And then we return to the heavy part. It's the same as Riff 4, however rather than ending by strumming

the lower string, play the hammering 8/7 instead. (The part where he screams)

Continue on through the song, playing Riff 5 and Riff 6 again, playing Riff 6 another extra time.

Then the song goes back to the heavy part (Father! Father!), which is Riff 4.

Finally, the outro goes like this… (Forsaken me, in your eyes…)
