Legendary R&B singer Stevie Wonder said on Wednesday (Jul. 1) that he will hold a one month U.S. tour, his first trek in over a decade. "I thought what would be really wonderful would be to go out and perform throughout this country as we have a need for healing," Wonder said.The Tour, “A Wonder Summer’s Night,” which begins next month in San Diego, will include 13 concerts from Aug. 23 to Sept. 20 in eight states. Stops in California will include San Diego, Lake Tahoe, Concord, Santa Barbara, Saratoga and Los Angeles. Other cities include Portland, Ore.; Woodinville, Wash.; Chicago; Detroit; Atlanta and Baltimore. The final concert will be in Boston. Tickets will be available beginning Aug. 11. Although the 57-year-old has given numerous performances worldwide, Wonder’s last full-scale tour in the United States was in 1995. Wonder has recorded more than thirty Top 10 hits, won more than twenty Grammy Awards (a record for a solo artist), plus one for lifetime achievement, won an Academy Award for Best Song (“I Just Called to Say I Loved You”) and has been inducted into both the Rock and Roll and Songwriters halls of fame. Blind from infancy, Wonder signed with Motown Records as an adolescent of age 11, and continues to perform and record for the label to this day. He has become one of the most successful and well-known artists in the world, with nine U.S. number-one hits to his name and album sales totaling more than 100 million units.
