From: JAS ELLIS

Subject: New Submission to Greg Vaughn

Hi Greg - An interesting story behind this - my husband, who had

submitted another Sammy Kershaw song to Cowpie, received an e-mail from

a fellow who was getting married to his "best friend" in a week, and

wondered if he would do him the favour of transcribing the music, as he

wanted to play this song to his bride on their wedding day. Not wanting

to twart true love, (and having some background in piano) I took over

the job for my man, and am now sending it to you for your achives.

Piano/Guitar Intro: Am/Dm/Gm/Bb/Gm/Bb/F

How (Bb) long have we been

the (F) very best of friends

I've (Bb) always heard you (C) say

I could (F) tell you anything

Oh the (Gm) times I made you (Gdim) laugh

the (F) times I dried your (Dm) tears

Through the (Gm) good and bad

I've (Bb) always been right (C) here

Chorus:

An (Bb) arms length away, right in (F) front of your face

This (Gm) close to your (C) lips, right at (F) your fingertips

That one (Am) true love you're (Dm) dreaming of

Darling (Gm) what (C) would you (Bb) say

If I (Gm) told you it's an (Bb) arms length (F) away

(Lead into verse: Gm/Bb/F)

For so (Bb) long I've longed to hold you

oh the (F) nights I almost told you

I (Bb) stopped myself, (C) afraid

of (F) just what you might say

And the (Gm) love that you have (Gdim) searched for

that (F) seems so out of (Dm) reach

Have you (Gm) ever stopped

to think it might be (C) me

(Chorus)

Instrumental Break: (Bb/F/Gm/C/F)

That one (Am) true love you're (Dm) dreaming of

Darling (Gm) what (C) would you (Bb) say

If I (Gm) told you it's an (Bb) arms length (F) away

(Repeat above)
