Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella’ Sets UK Chart Record

Rihanna

R&B singer Rihanna has achieved a landmark in the UK singles chart by having the longest-running single for over a decade. The single, “Umbrella,” featuring label boss Jay-Z, first topped the charts ten weeks ago. It's the first song to spend more than nine weeks at number one, since Wet Wet Wet's “Love Is All Around” in 1994. The band held the top spot for 15 weeks, while (Everything I Do) I Do It For You by Bryan Adams managed a 16 week stint in 1991. But Frankie Laine's hit “I Believe” holds the record for the longest chart run, with 18 weeks on top back in 1953. Elsewhere on the singles chart Black Eyed Pea Fergie moved to number two with her recent single “Big Girls Don’t Cry.” Timbaland’s “The Way I Are” went straight in at 4 on it’s first week of release.
