RC Edwards & the Awsome Possum Band - Navaho Beer guitar chord

Written by Casey "RC" Edwards

INTRO G C D (x2)

G

I remember one summer me and Daniel Ray,

C

were cruisin through New Mexico around Santa Fe,

D G

When we came across a stand sellin' gallons of Navaho Beer,

G

We was both pretty thirsty so we stopped in,

C

bought a gallon a piece and threw caution to the wind

D G

and commenced to drinkin' with a couple of breaks of bread.

G

I noticed Daniel's face start turnin' red,

C

and two big horns sprouted outta his head,

D G

and his eyes that was blue faded away to solid black,

G

I looked at the beer and it was all gone,

C

and six rattlesnakes was begin'n to spawn,

D G

from the crustaceous masses in the bottom of the glasses of beer.

(CHORUS)

G

Well, I've been around and I've seen alot,

C

but the craziest thing, I've ever got,

D G

my hands on is a bottle of Navaho beer,

G

you can listen to me, or try it for yourself,

C

but I'll leave'r sittin', there on the shelf,

D G

stay clear of that shit they call Navaho beer.

G

Had Sammy Davis,Jr. ridin' shotgun,

C

now ordinarily that would've been fun,

D G

but he pulled out his eye and he was jammin' it in my ear,

G

I said "look now Sammy I'ma tryin' to drive,

C

and anyhow, you ain't supposed to be alive,

D G

now where the hell is Daniel and whats in that Navaho beer?"

G

Well a cop pulled us over, i was scared as hell,

C

I said "Dammit Sammy, we's a goin' to jail"

D G

and I slowly began to roll my winder down,

G

I said "howdy officer can we just talk?"

C

he said "hell no son, you're on the sidewalk,

D

and, we don't drive like that in my town"

G

Well I stepped out the car, didn't put up a fight,

C

now Mr. Bojangles he wasn't so polite,

D G

and I think he was makin' a move for one of his guns,

G

I said "Oh my God!" and I grabbed his hand,

C

but you know them cops never understand,

D G

and they fired five rounds for the thing was done.

G

Well the shots they shot, they didn't hit me,

C

Didn't hit Sammy Davis or my pickup seat

D G

but one of them boys was screamin' "Officer Down!"

G

Well, one of them shots had hit him in the leg,

C

and it was all his fault is what Sammy said,

D G

Next thing I know we was speedin' outta town.

CHORUS

G

Woke up the next day in South Padre,

C

and right there next to me was Daniel Ray,

D G

and we was both sleepin' on the beach,

G

We drove that truck off in the ocean,

C

and hitchiked back to Oklahoma,

D G

and swore off drinkin' for seven days shy of a week.

CHORUS

G

Yodalady, yodalady, yodalady who,

C

yodalady, yodalady, yodalay

D G

yodalady, yodalady, Navaho Beer.
