A hearing for R&B singer R. Kelly, scheduled for yesterday (October 13th), has been postponed until October 27th according to the Cook County State's Attorney's office. The hearing will consist of pre-trial motions and a final date for the actual trial could be set during the proceedings. Cook County Judge Vincent Gaughan will be presiding over the case.

Kelly was indicted in June 2002 of an initial 21 counts based on a videotape that allegedly showed Kelly engaging in sex acts with a 14-year-old girl. Seven of those counts were later thrown out.

The video allegedly features Kelly with the then 14 year-old niece of Sparkle, one of the singer's former artists and proteges. Since his arrest, Kelly has vigorously denied that the man in the video is actually him. The alleged victim and her parents have also publicly denied that she is the person on the tape.

If convicted on the child pornography charges, Kelly could face up to 15 years in state prison, a $100,000 fine and be forced to register as a sex offender.
