Update: R. Kelly Makes It To Court, Escapes Arrest
R&B superstar R. Kelly has avoided an arrest by showing up to Illinois state court today (Dec. 20). A warrant for the singer was entered Wednesday after he missed a scheduled appearance in his ongoing child pornography case. Kelly's lawyer says the musician's tour bus was stopped by police in Utah after a log showed the driver did not get enough rest. The stop prevented him from arriving it Chicago in time for his 9 a.m. court appearance. Kelly's in the midst of a prolonged legal fight after prosecutors say he allegedly videotaped sex acts with a young teenage girl. Kelly has pleaded not guilty. A judge is expected to set a trial date during Today's appearance.
