R. Kelly slaps Jay

R&b singer R. Kelly is suing Jay-Z again, alleging the man who attacked him with pepper spray backstage at a show has been rewarded with a job promotion by the hip-hop mogul.

The "Ignition" singer filed a $75-million lawsuit against Jay-Z last year after the bitter dissolution of the their "Best Of Both Worlds" joint-tour. He alleged the rapper conspired to sabotage his segment of the show.

The suit further accused Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, of using intimidation and threats of violence to force Kelly to walk away from the tour. This, he claims, culminated with a pepper spray incident backstage at a concert in New York.

And, with the original suit still active, Kelly's legal team has fired off another document, claiming Jay-Z's friend Tyran Smith, who is awaiting trial on third-degree assault charges, was rewarded for carrying out the pepper spray attack with an executive post at record label Def Jam.

According to the new court documents, obtained by MTV News, Smith was "acting within the scope and course of his employment by Jay-Z" during the attack on Kelly.

Kelly's lawyer Greg Clarick tells MTV News, "It is true that, following this incident, Jay-Z was hired to run Def Jam Records, and we believe and understand that he hired Mr. Smith to be an executive at Def Jam Records."
