Queens of The Stone Age

Queens of The Stone Age - Hanging Tree bass tab

Hanging tree is one of the best queens song, with hard hitting

vocals by Lanigan, fantastic guitarmanship by Homme, Dave

Grohl working the drums like an expert, and Nick letting lose

one of the best basslines on the entire cd.

So take the time to listen to the song and fit the peices of this

tab here together, becuase its a damn good song and I just had

to tab it out after our cover.

Best of luck.

The beginning. Definatly the best part of the song, the bass

stands out entirely on its own here. Bring that fret hand way

down the neck and go nuts on the pull offs. Tinker with

it until you get the sound that Nick gets (use a pick if you must).

G|-----------------------|

D|-----------------------|

A|-15p0-0-15p0-0-15p0-17-|

E|-----------------------|

Now before the verse and chorus there is a little build up part

(happens through the solo too) so get this part down and be quick

on it because it does come out of nowhere if your not careful.

G|------------------------|

D|-19-\\------------------|

A|--------0-0-15-15-17-17-|

E|------------------------|

The main verse is all too easy, but the pattern is one thats kind

of off beat.

People say its related to Tool's Lateralus, and maybe pattern

wise, but timeing

it just ain't so

G|-------------------------------------------------------------------------|

D|-15--15-15-15-15-15-15--15-15-15-15-15-14--14-14-14-14-14-9--9-9-9-9-9-9-|

A|-------------------------------------------------------------------------|

E|-------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Now the chorus is a great part for the bass, basically resounds

out louder

than the guitar. Play the Pre-Chorus a couple of times before

this, again

give it a listen and you'll know where it all fits.

G|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

D|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------| x4

A|-15--15-15-15-15h17-14--14-14-14-14-17--17-17-17-17-17h19-16--16-16-16-16-16-|

E|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

G|------------------------------------------------------|

D|------------------------------------------------------|

A|-15--15-15-15-15--15-15-15--14--14-14-14-14--14-14-14-|

E|------------------------------------------------------|

And that would be all the peices to this magnificant song. The

intro verse pops out of nowhere after the chorus occasionally,

and theres a delay before it hits the last time, so timeing is

crucial. Anyways, I love this song, so if you have any trouble

just drop us a line and we'll fix it up.

Peace,

Bodhi
