i wrote this right after 9/11 , this is how i felt after the events that took place and this how i viewed them , any comments or suggestions would be greatly apprecitated

The cost

When I was growing up

I remember the stories my grandpa used to tell

About what this country had been through

All the tears that were cried and all the brave me that fell

See I always knew millions of lives were lost

But never really understood the cost

Freedom is how we live

Its not something easily gained

It’s in the tomb of the Unknown Soldier

And burns with Kennedy’s flame

Its lady liberty in the harbor standing tall

It’s the names of fallen hero engraved on the Vietnam wall

The cost of freedom

The red, white and blue

What this country is built on

Lie in me and you

It’s the spirit

The desire

The never-ending fire

It’s the blood that was shed

It’s the lives that were lost

It’s the price we pay for the American dream

It’s the cost

Watching the Towers Fall

I was speechless I didn’t know what to say

And it seemed that the American dream

Was slowly fading away

And as the tears began to fall

An this country fell apart

We all reached for what we held

True in our hearts

And as we realized what had happened

And all that was lost

We finally truly understood

The cost

The cost of freedom

The red, white and blue

What this country is built on

Lie in me and you

It’s the spirit

The desire

The never-ending fire

It’s the blood that was shed

It’s the lives that were lost

It’s the price we pay for the American dream

It’s the cost

It’s the price we pay

Oh it’s the dear price we pay

It’s the price we pay for the American dream

It’s the cost
