Nickelback Raises Close To $400,000 For Charity

Nickelback, on January 29th, announced an innovative charity initiative that has the band along with Roadrunner Records, WEA Corp. and Warner Chappell donating 100% of the proceeds from the digital sales of their single and video, "If Everyone Cared" to charity. Since the single's release just 8 weeks ago, the band has raised almost $400,000 for Amnesty International and International Children's Awareness Canada. Now, just halfway through the campaign, YouTube is reporting 550,000 streams of the track, while the single has been downloaded over 480,000 times.

"If Everyone Cared" is the sixth single off of the bands multi-platinum All The Right Reason s . The album is Nickelback's fifth release and continues to sit in Billboard's top 20 a year and a half after release. This week, "If Everyone Cared," currently #2 on the Hot AC Chart and approaching #1, is listed in Cingular's 'Top Tones' menu and Virgin Mobile's 'Top Rock' menu. All The Right Reasons, released in October 2005, boasts several number one hit singles including "Photograph," "Animals," "Savin' Me," "Rockstar" and "Far Away."

Their next single will be announced in the coming weeks and a special edition of All The Right Reasons featuring live tracks, a bonus DVD with music videos and one-of-a-kind behind-the-scenes footage is set to hit stores this June. Nickelback is scheduled to perform on the Vh-1 Rock Honors in May.
