Ne-Yo Develops 'What The Bear' Cartoon Series
R&B singer/songwriter Ne Yo is taking his passion for illustrating and drawing to a new level by venturing into an agreement with The Cartoon Network for his own animated series. Known for penning hits for Jennifer Hudson, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson, R&B singer Ne Yo has his sights set on utilizing another passion of his – illustrating. The "Miss Independent" crooner hopes to take his skills to the small screen with "What The Bear," an original animated series for The Cartoon Network. "It's a cartoon for adults, like Family Guy" says Ne Yo who is currently in talks with the network to get the show on the small screen. The series, which will feature original music produced by Ne Yo, would center around a rude bear that has been in jail in another dimension. You may have seen Ne-Yo's main character – the bear in a recently aired episode of MTV Cribs, where the crooner displayed his caricatures. According to Ne Yo if he wasn't singing or writing songs, he would be illustrating. In fact the star used drawing as a way to earn extra money growing up:"I used to draw portraits and caricatures of people and get 10 or 20 dollars a time. It was handy because, that way, I never needed to ask my mom for money." Although the project has yet to be finalized with a network, Ne Yo is ready to get things moving "I created the characters and the world they live in. And I did the original drawings and wrote the story."
