Motorhead to tour with Misfits
Once again the living dead shall rise...the Misfits are on tour! On the heels of a highly anticipated Latin American run, the legendary punk band will join Motorhead for the "Volcom 2008" all ages tour which also features Airbourne, Valient Thorr, and Year Long Disaster. This is the first time that the Misfits and Motorhead will perform together in the United States. "We are excited to be hitting the road with Motorhead and cracking skulls together! American audiences have never witnessed destruction on this magnitude," says Misfits founder and frontman, Jerry Only.
Spawned in 1977, the Misfits were primal. Their music was aggressive, confrontational and dangerous coupled with timeless vocal melodies bred from original 1950s rock and roll and violent lyrics as seen through the eyes of a monster. Immortalizing black and white B horror films in their music, the Misfits developed a ghoulish persona, totally unique, from their hand made musical weapons down to the stiletto hairstyle they called the "devil locks." It was the early days of punk and they had created a rebellion all their own.
Thirty years on, the Misfits continue to cast an ominous air of mystery which has landed them a massive cult following known as the Fiend Club. These "Fiends" (as their fans are known), now several generations deep, continue to multiply globally and also includes bands like Metallica, Green Day and My Chemical Romance. Boasting a massive catalog of music old and new, and an influence felt around the world, the Misfits are generating more interest today than ever before.
Fronted by Jerry Only (Bass/Vocals) with former Black Flag alum Dez Cadena on guitar and original Misfits drummer Robo still behind the kit, the Misfits continue to sell out shows and draw thousands of fans night after night around the globe. "When fans come to a Misfits show, they get a band who gets up there and gives them all they've got," says Only. "We give them the real thing - that's how we've always done it. At a show, everyone's just part of the band, there's no them and us - we're all us." It is this attitude of dedication to fans which has earned them world-wide respect and has kept everyone's worst nightmare alive.
Motörhead is a name that stands on it's own, a band that lives according to their own rules. A band that never sacrifices anything and has always remained true to what they are. Lemmy Kilmister, Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell - what you hear is what you get! Motörizer, a meaty, dangerous rock record, Motörhead's 24th album, is scheduled for release on SPV Records on August 26.
