R&B Star Monica Gives Birth to New Baby Boy, Preps New CD

R&B star Monica has a new family member to look out for. The singer gave birth to a new baby boy Tuesday afternoon, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The newborn is still awaiting a first name, but his middle name has been chosen – it's Montez, according to Monica's cousin and manager Melinda Dancil. The baby weighed in at 5 lbs., 6 oz. and was 19½ inches long. Dancil tells the paper that mother and baby are fine. Monica gave birth to her first child, Rodney Ramone Hill III, in May 2005 In October 2007 Monica renewed her contract with J Records. For now, she is writing and putting songs together for her fifth studio album with the help from producers Missy Elliott, Bryan Michael Cox, and Ne-Yo. According to Metro Weekly, she stated that the new disc will see release far sooner than "her typical three-or-more year wait between albums." Monica, 27 is best known for '90s hits such as "The Boy Is Mine," with Brandy, “Don’t Take It Personal” and “Before You Walk Out My Life”
