Chuck's Opening solo:
Here's the explanation. If you want me to actually Tab it I will, but since its different every time,
you're better off just getting the idea and playing w/it.
Descening Riff starts on a D (Use the 15th fret B string), improvise down (using major scale tones
--- D E F# G A B C# --- as you descend to an E.
If you want to keep it REAL simple, finish on the E on the 5th fret B string.
Do this riff twice......
Then:
Ascending Riff starts at open E on the low bass string and improvises up the minor scale and finishes on a D.
Do once and then repeat finishing on an E instead
Al's chord shapes for the verse:
e-----10------9------7-----9-------- ---14-----9------7-----9-------------------------------------
b-----10-----10------8----10-------- x2 ---15----10------8----10------------------------------------
g-----11------9------7---- 9-------- ---14-----9------7-----9------------------------------------
Now the difficult descending wo-wo-wo wo-wo-wo wo-wo-wo wo-wo part that comes just before "Pig Can Fly".
Hit each chord once:
e-------------------------------------------------------------------------
b---7----5----3----5----3----2----3-----2----0-----2---------------------
g---7----6----4----6----4----2----4-----2----0-----2---------------------
d---7----7----5----7----5----2----5-----2----0-----2---------------------
The jam is indeed In D major, but spend some time in A mixolydian too.
