R&B Singer Mashonda And Husband Swizz Beatz Call It Quits
Mashonda and her super-producer husband Swizz Beatz has reportedly separated, after almost a five year stint.In 1998, one of hip-hop's most influential beatmakers, Swizz Beatz, recognized Mashonda's talent and took her under his wing, giving her the opportunity to write hooks for tracks like Eve's "Gotta Man" and Jay-Z's "Girl's Best Friend". He also featured her on hits like Mya's "Best Of Me" and Cassidy's "Get No Better.""Their union was one shared in love and deep admiration for one another," a rep for the couple said today."For the last seven months, the two have been working on establishing a formidable friendship, being great parents to their son, and remaining great supporters of each other's careers. The couple has agreed to continue their entrepreneurial spirit. Mashonda is set to launch a new luxury swimwear line, a musical venture , and beginning an arts based school for children. Swizz is hard at work producing for a number of artists, and on his follow up album through Universal Motown Records. The couple has asked that their privacy be respected at this time." Mashonda released her debut album, January Joy, in Japan, boasted by singles "Blackout" featuring Snoop Dogg and "Back of the Club." The album was scheduled for a 2005 U.S. release, but has since been shelved indefinitely.
