Mariah Carey's production company has filed a one million dollar lawsuit against an Asia-based promoter over the cancellation of her Hong Kong concert last month, according to Hong Kong press. The suit alleges that the R&B singer was "greatly looking forward" to performing in Hong Kong but was forced to cancel the show when promoter One Group Investments breached its contractual obligations.

?This is an open-and-shut case for Mariah?s company, and we are confident that the company will prevail,? said Carey?s attorney.

Mariah?s manager Benny Medina said that promoter One Group had failed to meet payment deadlines. But the promoter said the concert had to be cancelled due to poor ticket sales and last-minute demands it described as "wholly unreasonable".

"Mariah is very passionate about her fans in south-east Asia," Medina told local press at the time. "She is very saddened by this."

In a previously released statement, One Group said that only about 4,000 tickets - excluding those reserved for corporate sponsors - had been sold, despite a substantial advertising campaign.
