Linkin Park To Headline Live Earth in Japan
Linkin Park are set to headline the Tokyo installment of the Live Earth concert series.
Live Earth is a seven-continent affair designed to promote awareness of the threat of global warming to our planet. They are similar in fashion to the Live 8 concerts, of which Linkin Park also participated, which promoted awareness of poverty.
Nine concerts are planned in various cities worldwide, including the United States (New York), United Kingdom (London), South Africa (Johannesburg), Brazil (Rio de Janeiro), China (Shanghai), Japan (Tokyo), Australia (Sydney), Germany (Hamburg), and Turkey (Istanbul).
Currently only the line-ups for the US, UK, and Australia shows have been named. Bands like The Police, AFI, Dave Matthews Band, Smashing Pumpkins, Kanye West, Fall Out Boy, and more are set to converge in New York. London will play host to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beatie Boys, Madonna, Duran Duran, Black Eyed Peas, and Foo Fighters, among others. Lastly, Australia will see the likes of Wolfmother, Jack Johnson, Ghostwriter, Eskimo Joe, and many others.
All concerts will take place during a 24-hour period on July 7th, 2007 (7/7/07). It is highly likely that a concert of this magnitude will be broadcast online as it happens, so we'll keep you updated.
