Former Destiny's Child member LeToya Luckett will release her solo debut July 18 on Capitol Records. The self titled album "LeToya" features appearances from fellow Houston artists Mike Jones, Paul Wall and Slim Thug, as well as production by Scott Storch, and others. Stated by Bilboard.com, LeToya says of the album's title, "It's the world's first time hearing me and getting to know me as a solo artist, so what better way to get them to know me than call it LeToya?" The first single, "Torn," is currently No. 53 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and has received over 2200 spins on Singersroom.com as well as some great reviews. During her seven years in the original Destiny's Child Group, Luckett co-wrote several of the group's singles, including "Bills Bills Bills" and "Say My Name." The singer appeared on two of Destiny's Child's four studio albums: its 1998 self-titled debut and the 1999 follow-up, "The Writing's on the Wall" (1999).

The albums first single "Torn" is already a major hit, currently working it's way to the top of the charts. LeToya's second single "She Don't" will be released to radio in early July and is expected to be as huge as "Torn." Former Destiny?s Child singer LeTOYA LUCKETT is celebrating today (Aug 2nd) after topping the Billboards album charts. The R&B star's self-titled album toppled hits compilation ?Now! That?s What I Call Music? with opening week sales of over 165,000. She becomes the second former Destiny's Child star to top the Billboard charts with a solo album ? Beyonce Knowles achieved that feat with her debut ?Dangerously In Love.? Luckett's album surprised many chart watchers by beating solo releases by Pharrell Williams and Tom Petty to the top of the charts. Williams' delayed solo debut, ?In My Mind,? entered at number two with 142,000 copies sold, while Petty's acclaimed ?Highway Companion? sold 112,000 copies to score the highest debut of his career at number four.
LeToya Luckett's former boyfriend has ruled out a romantic reunion, despite appearing on the R&B singer?s promo for her latest solo single. Texas rapper Slim Thug, who has also collaborated with Luckett's former band member Beyonce Knowles, is delighted by the singer's recent success, which saw her self-titled debut set top the US charts. But despite a cameo on the album and an appearance in the video for single ?She Don?t,? Slim insists they're just friends. He tells AllHipHop.com, "We used to be together, she was my girlfriend - so I wish her all of the success. "We ain't tryin' to [go back] though. We did it, you know - we had good times, but I don't really go backwards you know - I go forward."
