Family Values 2007 Ignites Detroit Audiences

Korn

Family Values 2007 wowed fans in the Detroit Metropolitan Area with a performance before a packed crowd. Headliners Korn put on one of the band's best concerts on record, electrifying the standing room-only audience.

Amongst the best performances were those of main stage openers Droid, the band inciting a massive sod fight in the lawn area. Such a sod fight has not happened at DTE since Pantera played there, years ago. Droid had a significant amount of fans moshing in the lawn area, but when two foot long pieces of sod began flying, the concert was christened with having an extremely unruly initiation. One of the heaviest artists to perform at DTE, Droid made a major impact on the metal fans of Detroit.

Second stage headliner Five Finger Death Punch watched as fans had their skulls split in the pit, turning in a violent, yet brilliant performance. Singer Ivan Moody has all the energy of a young Phil Anselmo, and the band had the badass persona to back it up. Watch for their debut "The Way of the Fist," out July 31st.

HellYeah opened with their self-titled anthem, singer Chad Grey prowling the stage and delivering a top caliber performance as frontman. Drummer Vinnie Paul beat skins stretched upon drums of gold, often smiling throughout his performance, obviously thrilled to perform with such an explosive lineup. The drummer smiled wildly as he exited the stage. Taking on a version of "Stone Cold Crazy," the band's performance and the crowd's response was not to be forgotten.

Much was expected of Trivium, as the group tore through its expected rendition of "Master Of Puppets," but little support was given by the crowd, with the majority of the pavilion attendees remaining in their chairs throughout the set.

Fans afforded a strong response to Evanescence, who dazzled the crowd with a fantastic light show as the band slammed through its own hits and a Doors classic, with an appeal second only to headliners Korn.

Not to give away the ending of a movie, Korn delivered an impressively powerful performance, both musically and visually. Easily, the group proved why it is one of the most popular hard rock acts of today. Both the new single "Evolution," as well as several hits from throughout the band's career entertained fans and incited massive responses. Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison provided plenty of thunder on drums, filling in for the absent David Silveria. Frontman Jonathan Davis' voice was intensely powerful throughout the live set, with the singer urging and receiving plenty of crowd participation.

The newest album from Korn, which has no title, hits stores on July 31st.
