Kid Rock Says iTunes Is Not Paying Artists Enough Money

Kid Rock says he has no plans to release his music through iTunes because the digital music store doesn't pay artists enough money.

The artist, who is one of the few remaining artists not signed up to the store, said that iTunes was based on "an old system".

"iTunes takes the money, the record company takes the money, and they don't give it to the artists," he told the BBC.

Kid Rock compared his issue with the company to the stories of musicians like Otis Redding and Chuck Berry who, Rock claims, "never got paid".

Although the internet promised to be "an opportunity for everyone to be treated fairly," Rock said iTunes has continued to work in the past.

The singer said he was losing a further 10-20% of album sales by not appearing on the music store, but added that he wasn't "really feeling that blow."

Rock's latest album 'Rock'n'Roll Jesus' debuted at number one in America last year, despite not appearing on iTunes.
