Kelly Rowland: ‘It Would Have Made People Cry’

Kelly Rowland

In an interview with Britain’s Guardian newspaper, Kelly Rowland talked about why she had to redo some of the songs on her new album. The former 'Destiny's Child' singer says her new disc 'Ms Kelly' was due to be released last year until she decided it was too serious and depressing and that it "would have made people cry." "It was more serious. It was all, 'This is what I've been through' and 'My heartache'. I thought, 'Kelly, life is not just about heartache. You have good times and you should talk about those as well'. So that's what I did.” Rowland started writing her second studio album - originally called 'My Story' - shortly after splitting from fiancé and football star Roy Williams in 2005. The singer now admits she wasn't ready to get married. Rowland revealed: "This is the first time I've ever said this but with the engagement I wasn't ready. I wasn't healed from my other relationships before him." Rowland’s ‘Ms. Kelly’ is expected in stores July 3rd and includes production from Sean Garrett, Billy Mann, Scott Storch, and Atlanta-based Polow Da Don, who contributed the single "Like This", a duet with rapper Eve, to the album. She will be performing "Like This" at the BET Awards 07. This will be her first time solo, and her debut world wide performance of her single. Comeback, another song on the album ‘Ms. Kelly,’ has won the polls of becoming Rowland's next single. Now it has to be confirmed by the artist.
