R&B Singer Kelis Angry At Her Record Label
Kelis is reportedly angry with Jive Records for including the track ?F*** THEM BITCHES? on her upcoming album ?KELIS WAS HERE? because she feels it?s not the kind of statement she would like to make right now.
?I just did [the song] to get it out of my system? she says. ?I did not want it on the album. It?s not a statement I want to make right now.?
The R&B singer also said that they treat her as a naïve newcomer who can?t make creative decisions when it comes to tracks that should or shouldn?t make it on the album.
?My label is constantly trying to take control of me,? she said. ?I?m not a new artist. I?ve been working hard to create my persona and have longevity and they went against my wishes.?
Kelis is also concerned that people are misinterpreting the meaning of her fist single, ?Bossy.? ?A lot of people think being bossy means bossing somebody around,? said Kelis. ?But it?s about being in control of your life. I?m fighting to be my own woman.?
?KELIS WAS HERE? is due today Aug. 22nd. The set includes collaborations with Sean Garrett, Scott Storch, Will.i.Am, Raphael Saadiq, Cee-Lo and others. ?BLINDFOLD ME? (featuring Nas) will be the 2nd single from the album.
