Keke Palmer Keeps It Movin' with a New Single, New Album

Keke Palmer

Keke Palmer wowed crowds last year with her starring role opposite Laurence Fishburne in Akeelah and the Bee and has appeared in numerous movies and TV shows, including Cold Case and ER. This 13-year-old’s greatest passion, however, has always been singing. Raised in a musical household, Keke has performed in church choirs since she was five and more recently contributed songs to the soundtracks for Akeelah and the Bee and the Ben Stiller vehicle Night at the Museum. These performances made it clear that Keke was ready for the next step: her debut album for Atlantic Records, So Uncool. “I hope when people listen to my music, they feel my passion for singing and songwriting,” Keke says. “I want them to walk away feeling something.” So Uncool is Keke’s first full-length album and features production from many A-list writers and producers, including Rodney Jerkins (Destiny’s Child, Brandy) and the Clutch (Usher, Mary J. Blige). The record has a mix of uptempo R&B tracks and inspirational ballads that kids can really relate to. So Uncool doesn’t come out until September, but in the meantime Keke has released a couple of songs from the album. “Keep It Movin’,” the follow-up to first single “Footworkin’”, is now available online and features an intro from rapper Big Meech. So Uncool will be released September 18th with Atlantic Records. Keke will also be on tour throughout the summer.
