Jason Boland

Jason Boland - Copperhead Road (adjusted) guitar chord

First off I agree completely with the tab and the intro that mammy put up, it

is perfect. (I used a lil bit of mammy's tab in here, the d,u,d,u,d 4x part is

mammy's....there's just no better way to describe that strum pattern) This isnt

here to down play his tab at all.

the thing I notice thats a lil different and this is that as you play a D chord

you throw in a lil bit open G string and then hammer down with your little

finger on the G string in the 4th fret

(This is my first tab so please Bear with me, if you have questions please

email me at bigboybrooks@hotmail.com)

D D-open G D- Hammer on G 4th fret

e---------2----------------2------------------------------2----------------------|

B--------3----------------3------------------------------3----------------------|

g---------2----------------0-----------------------------4-----------------------|

d----------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

a---------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

E--------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

I basically play the regular D while I am singing the song but between each

line I do a little bit of that action, it adds a little bit of the sound of the

intro into each verse and kinda adds a little twang to the song.

Copperhead road

by: Jason Boland

D D-open G D-hammer G on 4

Well, my name's John Lee Pettimore,

D D-open G D-hammer G on 4

Same as my daddy and his daddy's before.

D D-open G D-hammer G on 4

You hardly ever saw grandaddy down here

D D-open G D-hammer G on 4

He'd only come to town about twice a year

D D-open G D-hammer G on 4

Buy a hundred pounds of yeast and some copper line.

D D-open G D-hammer on 4

Everybody knew that he made moonshine.

G

Now the revenue man wanted granddaddy bad.

D

Headed up the holler with everything he had.

G

Before my time, but I've been told.

D

You never come back from Copperhead Road.

D

Granddaddy ran whiskey in a big black Dodge

Bought it at an auction at the Mason's Lodge

Had Payne County Sheriff painted on the side

Everybody knew that he made moonshie

Well, him and my uncle tore that engine down

I still remember that rumbling sound

G

Then the sheriff came around in the middle of the night

D

Heard mama crying that something wasn't right

G

He was headed down to Knoxville with the weekly load

D D(d,u,d,u,d) 4x

You could smell the whisky burning down Copperhead Road.

D

I volunteered for the army on my birthday

They draft the white trash first, round hear anyway

I done two tours of duty in Viet Nam

I came home with a brand new plan

I'd take the seed from Columbia and Mexico

I'd plant it up the holler down Copperhead Road

G

Now the D.E.A.'s got a chopper in the air

D

I wake up screamin, like I'm back over there

G

I learned a thing or two from Charlie don't you know.

D D(d,u,d,u,d) 4x

You better stay away from Copperhead Road.

D

Yea Copperhead road

D

Copper head road

D

Copper head rooooooaaaad
