Janet Jackson Scores 30th Top 10 Single with 'Call On Me'
NEW YORK, Aug. 28 - With its Number 9 position, "Call On Me," has become Janet Jackson's 30th Top 10 single on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The R&B superstar is now tied with R. Kelly for scoring the most Top 10 singles since Billboard began deriving chart information from Nielsen SoundScan data in 1992.
Since then, Janet has had 15 chart-topping hits to Kelly's 11, and seven consecutive Number One's, including "That's The Way Love Goes," "Again," "Any Time, Any Place/And On And On," "Together Again," "I Get Lonely," "Doesn't Really Matter," and "All For You."
The breezy, laid-back "Call On Me," featuring St. Louis hip-hop star Nelly, is the lead-off single from Janet's upcoming album 20 Y.O., which will be released by Virgin Records on September 26th. The second single from the album, "So Excited," featuring rapper Khia, will be released to radio today. Dupri premiered the track on his radio show on Atlanta's V-103 last weekend. Janet began shooting the video for the song in Los Angeles on August 23rd with noted director Joseph Kahn, who also directed her clip for "Doesn't Really Matter."
20 Y.O. marks the anniversary of Janet's career-making 1986 album, Control, re-teaming her with her original collaborators, legendary hit-makers Jimmy "Jam" Harris and Terry Lewis, and Grammy-Award winner Jermaine Dupri.
