Bad Boy recording artist Janelle Monae has revealed more about her highly anticipated new collection, "Metropolis: The Chase Suite (Special Edition)" calling it a sci-fi inspired world of cybersoul. The genre-blurring and innovative set is due for release August 12th. Known for her ground breaking style, Janelle Monae merges soul, funk and rock n' roll into "The Chase Suite (Special Edition), a continuation of Monae's epic musical journey as her android alter ego, Cindi Mayweather transverses a sci-fi inspired world of cybersoul. "The Chase Suite" – co-executive produced by Antwan "Big Boi" Patton of Outkast – follows Monae's "Metropolis:Suite I of IV." Monáe will be prominently featured at all digital music stores throughout the month of August. The iTunes Store will offer a "Fantastic Edition" of "THE CHASE SUITE" featuring a variety of bonus content. In addition to exclusive live videos and remixes, the "Fantastic Edition" will include the companion video to the track, "Many Moons," directed by Alan Ferguson (Panic at the Disco, Fall Out Boy). Janelle Monae is also slated to appear as a supporting act for Gnarls Barkley at Atlanta's Variety Playhouse on August 11th. The following day, August 12th, Monae will issue a live television performance on Fox's Good Day Atlanta, followed by an in-store performance and signing at ATL's Criminal Records. In related news, the singer/songwriter has also be confirmed to perform on September 6th at the Chicago's Annual Soul Music Festival. Janelle Monae's official debut is due in early 2009.
