R&B Youngin' Jamia Simone Nash Signs With The Firm
Eleven-year-old R&B newcomer Jamia Simone Nash has signed with The Firm for management and for film/TV representation with Creative Artists Agency (CAA). The Atlanta native, a 2003 winner of the Apollo Theater Talent Search, became the youngest African-American to perform at the Academy Awards this year when she sang the Oscar-nominated theme song from the film “August Rush” with the Impact Repertory Theater of Harlem. Her earlier appearances include the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Good Morning America” and Nickelodeon’s animated series “The Backyardigans.” Nash is now set to perform during the AARP 50th anniversary event “Songs of Soul and Inspiration.” Taking place June 21 at Phillips Arena in Atlanta, the two-hour soiree—directed by producer/choreographer Debbie Allen—includes among its headliners Chaka Khan, Yolanda Adams, Queen Latifah and CeCe Winans.Source: Billboard Biz
