Ill Nino "One Nation Undivided" Tour
Just back from sold-out tours of Europe and Australia, bi-lingual Latino Metal sextet ILL NINO is set to criss-cross America leading the "One Nation Undivided" spring tour. Presented by Jagermeister, the 28-city major market assault is ILL NINO's first and only U.S. headlining tour supporting its latest Roadrunner Records CD, ONE NATION UNDERGROUND, on track to be the band's most influential release to date.
Joining ILL NINO will be fellow New Jersey metal band God Forbid, as well as Silent Civilian (featuring former Spineshank lead singer Johnny Santos), Eyes of Fire and Bleed the Sky - all hand-picked by ILL NINO. All five bands are unifying to create a great festival style metal tour. The mayhem begins May 10 in New York City and continues through June 10 in ILL NINO's home state of New Jersey.
The tour arrives just as the video for "THIS IS WAR," the band's latest single, is debuting on MTV's Headbanger's Ball.
"We're psyched that we'll be able to bring our full 80-minute show to the U.S. for the first time in a while," says Cristian Machado, ILL NINO's lead vocalist. "The great thing about this tour is that the five bands are not only amazing and buzz-worthy in their own right, but they all represent different styles of metal. It's definitely an aggressive and power tour, and it's going to come and storm through your area like no other."
From all indications, America is eagerly waiting. ILL NINO's intoxicating live show was last seen in the U.S. on high-profile display as direct support to multi- platinum artists Disturbed and a successful fall tour with Wisconsin hard rock heroes Static X. ILL NINO went on to co-headline its one-week Australian tour with Static X earlier this year. So far ILL NINO has moved over 130,000 copies worldwide of One Nation Underground since its fall release. Adding to that momentum is the resounding radio response to "WHAT YOU DESERVE." The album's powerful first single was the NO. 1 MOST ADDED track at Active Rock radio after it impacted, and reached the Top 20 on the Active Rock charts.
"The band has been fired up and well oiled since the record came out," says drummer Dave Chavarri.
"The band is tighter than ever," adds bass player Laz Pina. "We're going to come out crushing. And the bands coming out on tour with us are amazing. It's going to be phenomenal."
ILL NINO was recently the subject of a feature story in The New York Times and a behind-the-scenes photo spread in Metal Edge and continues to pile up further press acclaim. The Aquarian Weekly marveled at One Nation Underground's "ferocious" melody, noting that ILL NINO has "moved into more mature territory and are clearly more comfortable in their songwriting shoes." The Centre Daily Times (State College, PA) says ILL NINO's music "is like a multi-ethnic car crash. Loud and aggressive, the music has all the elements of traditional hard rock, but adds in a wide array of Latin percussion and rhythms along with intricate and blistering Spanish guitar solos." The San Antonio Express-News declares that on One Nation Underground, ILL NINO produce "a rousing brand of metal that features pounding Latin percussion as well as thundering rock riffs. The New Jersey sextet has been perfecting its brand of heavy rock since releasing 2001's Revolution/Revolucion - and shows no signs of stopping."
ILL NINO formed in late 1999, signed to Roadrunner in 2000, and went on to record their 2001 debut Revolution, Revolucion. Strong airplay for their first single "What Comes Around" and slots on both the Ozzfest and Jagermeister tours in 2002 helped the album sell almost 190,000 copies. 2003's Confession spawned the hit "How Can I Live," which was featured on the Freddy vs. Jason soundtrack, and went on to sell 220,000 copies in the U.S. and 420,000 worldwide. ILL NINO is: Cristian Machado (vocals), Dave Chavarri (drums), Ahrue Luster (lead guitar), Laz Pina (bass) Danny Couto (percussion) & Jardel Paisante (guitar),
