Ill Nino

NEW YORK (Oct. 14, 2005) - With their newly released Roadrunner CD, ONE NATION UNDERGROUND, already on track to be their most successful to date, bi-lingual, Latino Metal sextet ILL NIÑO is joining Wisconsin hard rock heroes Static X on its Western U.S. fall tour. The mayhem begins November 9 in Tempe, AZ and will continue through mid-December.

"ILL NIÑO and Static X, what's better than that?," says Cristian Machado, ILL NIÑO's lead vocalist. "This is going to be one kick ass tour! I can feel the electricity running through my veins already, jam-packed energy. North America, get ready!"

From all indications, North America is eagerly waiting. ILL NIÑO's intoxicating live show was on high-profile display during a successful late summer tour playing direct support to multi-platinum rockers Disturbed. ILL NIÑO has gone on to move over 48,000 copies of One Nation Underground since its Sept. 27 release. Adding to that momentum is the resounding radio response to the powerful first single, "WHAT YOU DESERVE," the video of which premieres this weekend on MTV's Headbangers Ball and next month on Mun2's Se Habla Rock. "What You Deserve" was the NO. 1 MOST ADDED track at Active Rock after it impacted. Aug. 30. Tour markets on the Static X trek receiving significant spins on "What You Deserve" include Phoenix (KUPD), Seattle (KISW), Portland (KUFO) and Fresno (KRZR). Other key markets additionally spinning "What You Deserve" include San Antonio (KSRX), Nashville (WBUZ), Indianapolis (WRZX), Oklahoma City (KATT), Hartford (WCCC), Grand Rapids (WKLQ), Kansas City (KQRC) and Albuquerque (KTEG).

ILL NIÑO is the subject of an upcoming feature story in the New York Times and a behind-the-scenes photo spread in the current issue of Metal Edge and continues to pile up further press acclaim. The.Aquarian Weekly marveled at One Nation Underground's "ferocious" melody, noting that ILL NIÑO has "moved into more mature territory and are clearly more comfortable in their songwriting shoes." The Centre Daily Times (State College, PA) says ILL NIÑO's music "is like a multi-ethnic car crash. Loud and aggressive, the music has all the elements of traditional hard rock, but adds in a wide array of Latin percussion and rhythms along with intricate and blistering Spanish guitar solos." The San Antonio Express-News declares that on One Nation Underground, ILL NIÑO produce "a rousing brand of metal that features pounding Latin percussion as well as thundering rock riffs." Says the Cleveland Plain Dealer, "ILL NIÑO's unorthodox elements (i.e., its Latin-tinged rhythms and riffs) lead to extreme results - clawing metal thunderstorms, growing vocal screams and intense bursts of frenzied head-banging.The New Jersey sextet has been perfecting its brand of heavy rock since releasing 2001's Revolution/Revolucion - and shows no signs of stopping."

ILL NIÑO formed in late 1999, signed to Roadrunner in 2000, and went on to record their 2001 debut Revolution, Revolucion. Strong airplay for their first single "What Comes Around" and slots on both the Ozzfest and Jagermeister tours in 2002 helped the album sell almost 190,000 copies. 2003's Confession spawned the hit "How Can I Live," which was featured on the Freddy vs. Jason soundtrack, and went on to sell 200,000 copies in the U.S. and 400,000 worldwide. ILL NIÑO is Machado (vocals), Dave Chavarri (drums), Ahrue Luster (guitar), Jardel Paisante (guitar), Laz Pina (bass) & Danny Couto (percussion).
