Ever wonder where the band name HED p.e. originated, what it stands for and how exactly the name is supposed to be written? Read on.
The original band name "hed" originated with Jahred. The meaning? It stands for higher thought. When the band inked a deal with JIVE RECORDS, they had to slap the "pe" at the end to avoid an impending lawsuit from a similarly named band. The "pe", as we know it now, means "Planet Earth," symbolizing the spiritual interconnectedness of people. At one point (long, long time ago), the "p.e." meant "Planetary Evolution."
On how the band name is written? It's been switched up so many different ways, that nothing is surprising anymore. Some people get real creative with it and put the parenthesis around the (pe), as in hed (pe). Um, OK... Fact is this. The band name has gone though a lot of changes. Nowadays, the band has a new spiffy logo and is simply written HED p.e. No upside down e, no parenthesis, none of that funky shit. Simply HED p.e. Mystery solved.
