Live: Goapele, Santos Takes on S.O.B.’s in New York

Goapele

On Wednesday, December 12th, S.O.B.’s presents a night of soulful sounds with R&N singer Goapele and rising star, Matthew Santos. S.O.B.’s is New York’s premier venue for neo-soul and R&B, this year having presented sold-out shows by artists ranging from Raheem DeVaughn to J. Davey to Gil Scott-Heron. Goapele brings an infusion of fresh energy and a classic, yet new sound to neo-soul, and established herself as an R&B powerhouse with her 2005 album, Change it All. Matthew Santos’ voice can be heard regularly on mainstream radio and TV on the hook to Lupe Fiasco’s “Superstar”. The upcoming acoustic singer/songwriter has made a name for himself this year, not only with 3 features on Lupe’s The Cool, but also with performances at SXSW, Coachella, Summerfest and Lollapalooza. His acoustic solo project, Matters of the Bittersweet, was released on Candy Rat Records in November to an overwhelmingly positive public response and his presence on youtube has set the stage for Matthew Santos to make the leap to singing stardom. S.O.B.’s has long been the place to catch stars in an intimate setting before their rise to fame. Goapele began performing in NYC at S.O.B.’s monthly showcase, Sol Village. Catch her on December 12th, as she headlines this intimate concert, with a star in the making, Matthew Santos.
