It's really good. Seriously; it's a corker. Indeed, it's up there with 'Sound of the Underground' and the brilliant 'Chemistry' in that it delivers three minutes of driving, chunky, electro-pop with sparkle and verve. Once again written and produced by Brian Higgins' Xenomania outfit, 'Something Kinda Ooh' is the trailer for the forthcoming Greatest Hits album 'The Sound of Girls Aloud', which comes after four years of top ten hits. Four years, count 'em. God knows how they've managed that under the tutelage of Louis Walsh but hooking up with Higgins' outfit was clearly a masterstroke.
For those who are curious, the guitars are a bit 'Wake Me Up' and the lyrics are pleasingly bananas - the word "tutu" gets quite an airing. In a bid to get some word from the street I asked my nine year old why she liked it and she said "I like how the verses aren't just normal."
