Get Up Kids - Woodson bass tab
song: Woodson
artist: The Get Up Kids
album: All Stars EP
tabbed by: John Krohn (jkrohn@scs.k12.mi.us)
This song is in a three way tie for my favorite Get Up Kids song.. If you
didn't know, It's one of the few songs Jim sings.. I like playing Jim's
songs because his vocal range is lower than Matt's, so I can actually sing
all his parts comfortably. I heard Jim say at a concert that this was the
first song they wrote together as a band. Damn, they were freakin' awesome
right from the get-go. Robbie Pope is a pretty cool guy... not only are his
basslines fun and awesome sounding, but I met him after a show, and he
complimented my Jethro Tull shirt. He also kissed my girlfriend's hand, a
real smooth character! That was the show in Chicago when they played with
Cheap Trick. Ahh, memories... anyway...
I'm gonna list all the parts first, then the order of the parts. Also, I try
to indicate rythyms whenever possible, which sometimes seems to clutter things,
and make "1"'s look like "11"s and such. Just keep that in mind and you won't
be so confused. Rythyms are oh-so-very important as a bassist, because it's
locking your picking in with the bass drum that gives the listener a feeling
of "tightness".
by the way a "/" is a quick slide up and back down the neck, a cool
embellishment that robbie likes to do.
