Funeral For A Friend

Funeral For A Friend - Novella guitar tab

These are just bits and pieces of the song really, but they are basically correct.

Funeral for a friend- Novella

1st verse (may need altering slightly, chords are correct):

E--------------------------------------------------------------------

B--------------------------------------------------------------------

G--------------------------------------------------------------------

D---3-3-3------3-3-3------3-3----------------------------------------x2

A---3-3-3--3---3-3-3--3---3-3--3-------------------------------------

E----------3----------3--------3-------------------------------------

E--------------------------------------------------------------------

B--------------------------------------------------------------------

G---4-4-4-4--6-6-6-6--8-8-8-8--10-10-10------------------------------

D--------------------------------------------------------------------

A--------------------------------------------------------------------

E--------------------------------------------------------------------

E--------------------------------------------------------------------

B--------------------------------------------------------------------

G--------------------------------------------------------------------

D---3-3-3------3-3-3------3-3----------------------------------------

A---3-3-3--3---3-3-3--3---3-3--3-------------------------------------

E----------3----------3--------3-------------------------------------

While he sings 'We deserve' all the guitar does is play D--3 as a flat chord very

fast. A--3

Repeat all of this twice, then play this (which is the Pre-chorus) after he

sings 'We talk':

E--------------------------------------------------------------------

B--------------------------------------------------------------------

G---6-6-6-6-6-6-6--8-8-8-8-8-8-8--10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10------------

D--------------------------------------------------------------------

A--------------------------------------------------------------------

E--------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't find the time to figure out all the chords and what ever melody the lead

guitar plays during the chorus but it is pretty simple and the chords revolve

around those used during the 1st and 2nd verse but they go up to higher frets.

2nd Verse:

E--------------------------------------------------------------------

B--------------------------------------------------------------------

G--------------------------------------------------------------------

D---3-3-3------3-3-3------3-3----------------------------------------x2

A---3-3-3--3---3-3-3--3---3-3--3-------------------------------------

E----------3----------3--------3-------------------------------------

E--------------------------------------------------------------------

B--------------------------------------------------------------------

G---4-4-4-4--6-6-6-6--8-8-8-8--10-10-10------------------------------

D--------------------------------------------------------------------

A--------------------------------------------------------------------

E--------------------------------------------------------------------

E--------------------------------------------------------------------

B--------------------------------------------------------------------

G--------------------------------------------------------------------

D---3-3-3------3-3-3------3-3----------------------------------------

A---3-3-3--3---3-3-3--3---3-3--3-------------------------------------

E----------3----------3--------3-------------------------------------

While he sings 'We deserve' all the guitar does is play D--3 as a flat chord very

fast. A--3

Repeat all of this twice, then play this (pre-chorus, different from the 1 in the

1st verse) after he sings 'Their disguise':

E--------------------------------------------------------------------

B--------------------------------------------------------------------

G--------------------------------------------------------------------

D---4-4-4---4-4-4---4-4-4--------------------------------------------

A---4-4-4---4-4-4---4-4-4--------------------------------------------

E---4-4-4---4-4-4---4-4-4--------------------------------------------

It plays the chorus again then the quiet slow bit (which can be considered as a

very long outro) If you want to play what the Bass guitar plays at first then

this is it (same notes, different key):

E--------------------------------------------------------------------

B--------------------------------------------------------------------

G--------------------------------------------------------------------

D--------------------------------------------------------------------

A--------------------------------------------------------------------

E----12*--16*--------------------------------------------------------

*Play both notes about 16 times and repeat through the entire outro.

Main tune played in outro:

E--------------------------------------------------------------------

B--------------------------------------------------------------------

G-----------------------------------------8--------------------------

D--[10-10-6-8-6-8-6-0-6--x3]*-10-10-6-8-6---8-6----------------------

A--------------------------------------------------------------------

E--------------------------------------------------------------------

*Play this bit after the third time of playing the initial piece.

The other guitarist plays a lot of stuff that is hard to distinguish, but you can

hear him playing a harmonic on the B string on the 7th fret.

This tune is played continuesly until the loud distorted bit enters in which you

basically play the same thing without the asterix marked riff.

The song then again goes quiet in which the tune is repeated until it fadingly

exits to end the song with just the bass guitar and drums, and I think there's a piano.

Lyrics:

Wasting time, it's over and ended

Wasting time, we deserve

Hold that line, they ask us in safety

Hold that line, when we talk

I can see the headlights and pavements

My legs can't carry me that far,

If this distance isn't enough they'll cry

Another river to see you drown

Faceless lies, it's easy to speak when

Every word is your own

Selfish eyes look onward in protest as we

Tear down thier disguise

Your days were golden while

we bled....................

This is my favourite song of all time, so if you have any corrections (which you

probably will if you have ever even picked up a guitar) I will honestly be

concerned about being informed so e-mail me at rupertthepinkelephant@hotmail.com
