Foo Fighters
"Up in Arms"
>From "The Colour and the Shape"
Tabbed by Ted Barnes
The slow part is the same as the fast one, but for the slow part you would
use open chords and appegio. Use accented notes right before every chord change.
For the accented notes play the bottom two or three notes of the chord (bottom being high E and
B strings.)
No accents on the F or Ab chords.
For the chorus no accented notes at all and no appegio on the F and Ab chords.
THE SLOW PART:
open C: open B/G: open Am: open C/G: barred F: Barred Ab
e:-4 e:-3 e:-4 e:-4 e:-x e:-x
B:-1 B:-0 B:-1 B:-1 B:-x B:-x
G:-0 G:-0 G:-2 G:-0 G:-2 G:-5
D:-2 D:-x D:-2 D:-2 D:-3 D:-6
A:-3 A:-2 A:-0 A:-X A:-3 A:-6
E:-x E:-x E:-x E:-3 E:-1 E:-4
For the verus play the chords in that order, I'm sure you can figure out the timing.
The Chorus:
Play in this order:
F-Ab-C*-Am-F-Ab-C and repeat
*= when you play the C, keep playing the C chord , but the bass plays C then B,
and then both go the Am.
THE FAST PART:
The chords are the same but no appegios or accents AT ALL for the rest of the song.
THE SOLO:
Yes folks now we are to the exciting part known to all as "The Solo."
This solo is in the A pentatonic scale. I'm not going to tab it out completely as the entire
solo is made up of about five notes played in a different order, and unless your tone deaf,
You should have no problem whatsoever, Remember, you're supposed to have fun with a solo and
kind of improvise.
A Pentatonic:
e:
B:-5*--8*
G:-5*--7*
D:-5--7*
A:-5--7
E:-5--8
Now I stared all of the notes he uses in the solo. The 5 on the B string is only used once in an
unison bend with the 7 on the G string so have fun.
Now I'm sure this is very confusing, in fact a know it is, so if you need any help I'd be gald to
help anyone at any time. My e-mail is at the bottom and I answer fast and coureous.
