R&B Group En Vogue Teach Girls About Healthy Living
Chart-topping R&B group En Vogue hit up Kansas City last week for a heart-to-heart with teenage girls about various health issues.
Cynthia Newsome, NBC Action News, hosted the event as the ?Whatta Man? singers used their celebrity status to create awareness around the teenage girls. The discussion included a warning about avoiding HIV and AIDS and other sexual transmitted diseases.
"Everybody has to be made aware of what's going on with our community and so we've decided to come together and help that out," said group member Rhona Bennett.
Along with metro health care professionals, En Vogue members also encouraged the girls to eat healthy, exercise and maintain a positive self image.
"Increase prevention, intervention, just for a better quality of life; we like to lend to that," said member Cindy Herron.
En Vogue visited Kansas City to perform at the late Buck O'Neil's birthday celebration.
