O.K., you may or may not know, but Embodyment uses 7-string guitars,
I believe in standard tuning. For us six-stringers, tune your guitar
down to the bottom 6 strings of a 7-string, and for the few who have
a 7-string, you just won't be playing your high E.
Here's the tuning:
6-1: B E A D G B
The intro is just this played with heavy panning for about 15 seconds.
G----------------------------------
D-5----------------5---------------
A-5----------------5---------------
E-3----------------3---------------
B-3----------------3---------------
After the 4 beats on the cymbal, the verse riff kicks in.
Guitar 1
G-----------------------------------------

E-3-33-3-33-3-33-3-x-3-3-3-3/6-66-66-66-66
B-3-33-3-33-3-33-3-x-1-1-1-1/4-44-44-44-44
Guitar 2(with mild phasing and auto wah) *=3/4 step bend Hold the
bend and let the notes sustain.
G---------------------------------------------
D-----------------------------------12b*------
A---------------------------------------------
E-----------------------------------10b*------
B---------------------------------------------
After 6 repetitions of the above, go into the chorus:
Bear with me on this; I'm not totally sure about the rhythm guitar in
the chorus, as the lead is much louder in the mix. I'm positive that
these rhythms are right, and the chords sound pretty close.
Guitar 1

E-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2--3-5

Guitar 2(still with mild phasing and wah)

B----------------------------------------------------------------

Let me explain that; gradually bend the F#octave(14x16) into the G
octave, and gradually release, following the srumming pattern through
the bend. On the second and fourth repetitions, instead of bending
into G, just strum 8 counts of the F#, then 8 counts of an E octave(12x14).
Bridge
D-----------------
A-2-222-222-22-3-5
E-2-222-222-22-3-5
B-0-000-000-00-1-3
mmm mmm mm
On the second bridge, the transition back into the verse riff is just
the G/D power chord with panning that opens the song.
The last part of the song is just the verse riff and this harmonic in
the background:
B-9
D--
Key to symbols:
b=bend
r=return bend
x=left hand mute
/=slide up
m=palm mute
And you're done!
This is a great song by a great band. If you don't have the album, and
just heard the song off a sampler, I recommend you get the album, it's
probably my favorite right now. Look for One Less Addiction, Aftermath
of Closure, and some other Embodyment tabs in the future. God bless.
