Down guitarist Kirk Windstein (Crowbar) has offered more information on the recording process for the group's third full-length album, tentatively titled 'Down III'. Producer Warren Riker (Crowbar, Sublime) is helming the effort, for which the band had reportedly composed more than 18 tracks.

Said Windstein: "We record tunes on two-inch tape and then drop them to ProTools. The mixing process is a lot easier with automation. But believe me, we jam our balls off on every tune. This ain't no computerized, polished nu-metal CD. This is the real deal!!"

Down's lineup is completed by Corrosion Of Conformity guitarist/vocalist Pepper Keenan, drummer Jimmy Bower (Eyehategod, Superjoint Ritual guitarist), bassist Rex Brown (ex-Pantera), and vocalist Philip Anselmo (Superjoint Ritual, ex-Pantera).
