Dillinger Escape Plan Forced To Cancel Shows Due To Injuries
Below is a release by the band concerning their recent unfortunate circumstance:
The Dillinger Escape Plan have been forced to cancel part of their upcoming tour due to numerous injuries within the band. Guitarist Brian Benoit, who underwent major surgery last December, aggravated his shoulder on their last American tour. The band, with Brian's blessing, recruited ex-Fenix TX guitarist James Love to fill in for all live dates until Benoit was fit enough to return to the fold. However, the night before the band left for Europe, founding member Ben Weinman was involved in an automobile accident that left him in hospital. Undeterred, Dillinger decided that canceling shows was for other bands and Ben literally went from the hospital to the airport. Unfortunately, during the band's show in Madrid Spain at the Festimad Festival, it became apparent that all was not well with Ben. He blacked out at one point during the set (as a result of injuries sustained in the accident) and the band had to cut their set short as a result. On doctor's orders, Ben has to return home for three weeks of rest (the doctor recommended three months). The band plan to resume their tour at the Fields of Rock festival in Holland on June 18.
Ben Wienmen went on to comment that "Dillinger are not the kind of band who cancel shows without good reason and unfortunately I have a bad reason - I'm fucked." Vocalist Greg Puciato meanwhile was worried that there might be shitty movies on the plane ride home."
