Deftones add US shows, Canadian leg
Alt-metal rockers the Deftones have expanded their North American trek, adding more US dates and a full tour of Canada.
The outing, which began more than a month ago, will stop in Chicago tonight (6/15) and then start heading West with dates that include two-night engagements in Salt Lake City, UT, and Portland, OR. US shows wrap July 8 in Seattle, a day before the Canadian jaunt launches in Victoria, British Columbia. A third show was recently added in Vancouver and the Deftones will play two nights in Montreal. They'll headline Toronto's Wakestock Festival July 28 as the tour's finale. Details are listed below.
The Deftones' headlining stint in Canada will be their first since since touring behind 2000's "White Pony."
Japanese hard-rockers Dir En Grey and Seattle trio The Fall of Troy will support the Deftones in the US. Hardcore band From First to Last will take over the opening slot on the Canadian run with the Great White North's own Die Mannequin joining in on most of the shows.
The Deftones are touring behind their fifth studio album, "Saturday Night Wrist," which was released in October. The record has risen to No. 10 on The Billboard 200 on the strength of singles "Whole in the Earth" and "Mein," which is streaming at the band's MySpace page.
The Grammy-winning group has already made its way through Mexico, South America, Japan, Australia and Europe this year.
