Long awaited album release on day of birth
The voice and guitar of Pink Floyd as he has been described by many, David Gilmour has today (06.03.2006) turned 60 years old; but this will most definitely not be a day of relaxation for it coincides with the releases of his third studio album entitled "On an Island". Collaborations with artists such as Crosby and Nash, Pink Floyd bandmember and friend Richard Wright, Robert Wyatt on the cornet, orchestrations by the renowned Polish composer Zbigniew Preisner, won't be the only novelty as this album will also feature a debut on the saxophone by David Gilmour. For this "most intimate and complex of his studio efforts so far", he once again joined forces with Polly Samson, his wife for most of the writing credits.
The ten tracks on the album, which has been produced by David Gilmour, Phil Manzanera and Chris Thomas, are:
Castellorizon
On An Island
The Blue
Take a Breath
Red Sky at Night
This Heaven
Then I Close My Eyes
Smile
A Pocketful of Stones
Where We Start
The album will be available to the american public tomorrow (06.03.2006).
He will be going on tour for the first time in a long time but the exact dates are still being worked on. So Happy birthday David and we look forward to hearing and even seing you.
