going to be jangling the G-F# right (which takes practice) or dancing

i can also hear a second guitar, playing just D-G/G-D on the verse

part, and i've seen the "all the ants are marching" section written

out as bass triads; G (3 2 0 x x x) D/F# (2 0 0 x x x) E (0 2 2 x x x).

it sounds good either way to me and in the end it's up to your ear.
