Conlee John

Conlee John - Miss Emily guitar tab

Miss Emily's Picture

-----------

I saw this submission from A.L. Elrod (elrod@nwol.net), and I knew of a

slightly different chord progression that I think is a little closer to

the true recording, so I amended the initial submission slightly.

Miss Emily's Picture

[Note -- A6 and F#m7 are essentially the same chord -- barred second

fret on first four strings, but A6 also plays open fifth string; E6 -

add a C# to E chord]

(Intro) E6

I wake up in the morning is a state of fright

On the wrong side of the bed all night

A6 E6

Clinging to the broken heart - Inside my head

F#m7 B7

Open my eyes and I move my hand

F#m7 B7

>From 'round her pillow to the nightstand

F#m7 B7 E6

And straighten Miss Emily's picture by my bed

Go to the office; the work's piled up

pour three fingers bourbon in my coffee cup

A6 E6

Cry on my best friend's shoulder - down the hall

F#m7 B7

I feel so lonely, when I close the door

F#m7 B7

I bite my nails and I walk the floor

F#m7 B7 E6

And straighten Miss Emily's picture on my wall

CHORUS

E A E A E B7 E

Look out my window and what do I see, Nothing but pain looking back at me

A E

All that my future means to me,

F#m7

Is tossing yesterday's love out into the wind

B7 E6

And straighten Miss Emily's picture now and then

I leave my office and I go downtown,

to a little bar we all hang around

A6 E6

Laugh -drink beer -shoot pool - and have a ball

F#m7 B7

When the laughter stops - and the hurt takes hold

F#m7 B7

I reach in my pocket for my billfold

F#m7 B7 E6

And show Miss Emily's picture to them all

I stagger in the house and I slam the door

Scatter my clothes all over the floor

A6 E6

Wishing I could do the same thing in my head

F#m7 B7

I drink a beer and I eat a bite,

F#m7 B7

Just before I turn out the light

F#m7 B7 E6

I straighten Miss Emily's picture by my bed

(REPEAT CHORUS)
