Cold To Release New Album Aug 30
Florida-based hard rockers Cold return to spotlight with their fourth studio record A Different Kind of Pain. The introspective new album will be released on Lava Records, a division of the Warner Music Group, on August 30, 2005.
After a two year hiatus since their Gold-selling previous album Year of the Spider, Cold triumphantly return with their most eloquent album to date. A Different Kind of Pain demonstrates the band's tremendous growth as songwriters and was recorded at Bearsville Studios in upstate New York and Studio Barbbarosa in Virginia. The disc was produced by Michael " Elvis" Baskette (Chevelle, Iggy Pop, and Puddle of Mudd) and mixed by Ben Grosse.
A Different Kind of Pain is fraught with insight into the band's recent upheavals, which include tackling personal demons, lineup changes and facing immortality. Determined to confront their fears, the band used the recording of the album as an outlet for their pain. "Making this record wasn't just about dealing with the darkness, it was a healing process," remarked singer Scooter Ward. "Everyone who was involved and everybody who was around us at the time was changed by this album."
Highlights from the disc include the dark, melancholy title track "A Different Kind of Pain" which showcases Ward's brooding vocals. Other notable tracks on the album include the debut single "Happens All the Time," which skyrocketed onto radio play lists its first week out, garnering #3 most added honors at Modern Rock and Active Rock formats.
Formed in Jacksonville, Florida in the late 90's, Cold released their eponymous debut album in 1998. The band followed up their debut album with two consecutive Gold-selling releases including 13 Ways To Bleed On Stage (2000) and Year of the Spider (2003.) Cold are Scooter Ward on vocals; Matt Loughran on guitar; Jeremy Marshall on Bass; and Sam McCandless on drums. For more information go to: www.coldonline.com.
