"Gone Unsung" (Drink To The Dead) acoustic demo version

Wow, this sure is an interesting song isn't it? For those of you fortunate enough to

have the demo version of this song, this will be a fun song to play. The chords are

relatively simple in a Gordon Lightfoot kinda way, but the bass line--which I have

tabbed--seems to provide a nice, melodic anchor. Neil Fallon plays the acoustic parts

and Tim Sult the distorted wah parts. Most of the chords are strummed and played in the

first position i.e., the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd frets. I tried to tab as many of the parts as

I could to give you an idea of what you are missing, if you haven't heard it.

Outro Pirate Chorus:

Bass follows single notes of chords:

E A

"Drink to the dead all you still alive.."

D E

"We shall join you in good time..etc"

Gone Unsung (Drink To the Dead)

If knee-deep in cat nip

At the old icebox

I recommend you whistle

And give the box three knocks

Should you be so lucky

To hear whisperin'

It is an invitation

For you to leap in

Let us go leaping in three measure time

Dressed up as asses and drunk to the nines

Swing from the branches shouting those songs

Gone unsung for far too long

You're surrounded by toadstools

In the old green glen

I'm afraid there is little

That I can recommend

Save all of your courage

And the sun say a prayer (or possibly "And the Son say a prayer")

And where you go a-treadin'

Take the utmost care

Let us go leaping in three measure time

Dressed up as asses and drunk to the nines

Swing from the rafters shouting those songs

Gone unsung for far too long

Let us go leaping in three measure time

Dressed up as asses and drunk to the nines

Swing from the branches shouting those songs

Gone unsung for far too long

Sound of rushing water yon

Nine mens more as in the sand

But the players gone

Drink to the dead all you still alive

We shall join them in good time

Should you go crossing that silvery brook

It's best to leap before you look

Drink to the dead all you still alive

We shall join them in good time

Should you go crossing that silvery brook

It's best to leap before you look

Drink to the dead all you still alive

We shall join them in good time

Should you go crossing that silvery brook...
