Chaka Khan's son cleared in 2004 murder
The 27-year-old son of singer Chaka Khan was acquitted Friday of murder charges stemming from the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old in 2004. A Los Angeles jury considering both murder and manslaughter charges found Damien Patrick Holland not guilty in the killing of Chris Bailey in Holland's home.
Police had said Holland shot Bailey on Sept. 24, 2004, during an argument. Holland turned himself in to police in February 2005 when he learned prosecutors intended to charge him with murder.
Holland claimed the shooting was an accident. The jury had deliberated since Wednesday.
